The Acro Club Championships 2006
Every time I write an article for our website, it always seems to start ‘Wow, wow, wow’, so I really wanted to start with something different this time - but you guys won’t let me – wow, wow, wow!!!!!
For the seventh year running Testwood have taken the lion’s share of the medals.
Out of a possible 19 medals that we could have won (10 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze) we actually won 12, (7 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze) – so that leaves all the rest of the clubs to fight over the remaining 7 – so am I pleased? You bet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a stressful day for everybody, but some of the special moments were –
- all of our Gold medallists won by a comfortable margin.
- two of our Juniors won medals (beating some of our Seniors, plus all the other clubs!)
- this year was the first time for all 3 of our girls in Women’s Tumbling Level 3 (the one with the ‘flic’ in it (sounds like Friends!)) and one of them gets a medal – well done Rhiannon!
- Olivia and Amy – only met for the first time four weeks ago, two weeks ago Donna, our daughter (British Championship Finalist and Arbiter Judge) said ‘they are not going to be ready’ (which I think spurred them on even more!) and what did they do – they only won it - and by more than a whole mark!!!!
- Kayleigh and Kayleigh – it was only seven days ago that Kayleigh’s partner, Frances suffered a nasty fall and would obviously not be fully recovered in time for the competition. It was such a shame as they had worked very hard towards it. We wish Frances well and hope to see her back soon. However, a sudden idea hit us and we asked young Kayleigh if she thought she could learn it all in a week. And she did us proud! With only three training sessions to practise the routine, they came an agonising 4th – oh so close to a medal – just imagine what a term’s training could have done!
- BGA recently announced that certain music would not be allowed in future, so Sara, Hannah and Rhiannon had to find new music. And only three weeks after adapting their routine, they win Gold (and with the best Technical, Artistry and Difficulty scores). You only had to listen to the crowd’s reaction to this new music and routine to see how well they had chosen.
- Katy got the highest 1st run score of the day in Regional 1 tumbling.
- Rachell got the highest 2nd run score of the day in Regional 1 tumbling.
- Kayleigh got the highest score of the day in runs 2 and 3 of Regional 2 tumbling.
- Rhiannon got the highest 2nd run score of the day in Regional 3 tumbling.
- James won his Regional 3 tumbling by over FOUR whole marks!!!!
- Liam won his Regional 1 tumbling by over SEVEN whole marks!!!!!
And the final thought of the day was – are we tired, yes, but who cares when the lion’s share of medals comes to TESTWOOD again!!!!
Well done Amy, Katy, Rachell, Liam, Kayleigh, Rhiannon, James, Olivia, Amy, Lewis, James, Megan, Becky, Nikita, Olivia, Sara, Hannah and Rhiannon for making us proud - again!!!!
