The Club Championships - 15th March 2009

Well, here we go again!

Business as usual!!

In the levels we entered, Testwood won 8 Golds and 5 Bronzes making 13 medals in total - 68% of all the medals that we could have won!!! That left the other Clubs fighting for just 6 medals. I call that a pretty pleasing day's work!!!!!

WELL DONE to everyone !

The highlights (and the lowlights!) were -

Regional A Tumbling
Georgina only joined our club in January and she wins the tumbling! Her third run achieving the highest score of the round.

Jessica (from our Juniors), also in her first competition, scoops the Bronze, and her second run was the highest of the round.

Three other 'newbies', Rhiannon, Belinda and Emily followed close behind in 5th, 6th and 7th places.
Unfortunately, a wobbly second run from Melissa saw her finish 11th.

Regional B Tumbling
A Silver for Heather, Bronze for Katie and the usually so-tidy Emma edged into fourth place after a wobbly first run.

BUT WAIT, when we see the final scores, Heather got 26.10 and the girl who was awarded Gold only got 26.05 - someone can't read very well! So I have collected a trophy to present to the proper winner of Regional B tumbling - Heather! Unfortunately we cannot recreate the moment of standing on the top step of the podium where she rightfully belonged, but maybe next year she will repeat her performance (and those who collate the results will have their glasses with them!) Tess in her first competition was a little nervous to say ther least but finished 9th of the 12 entrants.

Regional C Tumbling
At this level. I managed to watch all the runs and thoroughly expected a clean sweep of the medals - our girl's runs were far superior to any of the others, but sadly some of the judges thought differently. However, Hannah overcame the tangle of being wanted on floor and tumble at the same time to win Gold with Amy, Elizabeth and Carys edged into 4th, 5th and 6th. We was definitely robbed!!!!

National 1 Tumbling

Rachael and Liam were the only entrants at this level, so each picked up a Gold for their efforts, both achieved with respectable scores.

Prep A Women's Pairs
Hannah and Boston - Gold, Sophie and Katie - Bronze, Elizabeth and Zoe - 4th - so near to a clean sweep! Poor Lauren and Brooke had a fall and so suffered a low score. However adding back the cost of the fall would have put them in amongst their clubmates.

Prep B Women's Pairs
Amy and Carys romped home for Gold by 0.7 of a mark (no 0.05 edging-it-by-the-skin-of-your-teeth for these guys!) Vicky and Heather picked up the Bronze and Delisa and Connie in their first outing together came a creditable 6th.

Grade 1 Women
In the pairs Emma and Megan were pleased with their Bronze, although there was a surprisingly wide spread of scores in what looked to be a close competition - but then, it is not our place to argue with the judges!

Just to put things right, in the Groups, Sara, Rachael and Katy walked it to Gold by almost a whole mark with their really enjoyable Chicago routine.

Added to this was another extra icing on the cake - Hannah achieved the highest tumble score of the day across all levels, and (with Boston) the highest floor score. Well done you!!

So that all means that in the last 10 years in this competition, Testwood could have won 239 medals in total and we actually did win 64 Gold, 36 Silver and 43 Bronzes making 143 (or to put it another way 60% of the medals!)

I like this 60/40 split - 60% for Testwood and 40% for everyone else - long may it continue!

Well done everybody for once again making us proud.
